We need to talk about Lenire. Again.

As an audiologist deeply involved in tinnitus care, I’m growing increasingly concerned - and frankly, frustrated too - with the ongoing marketing push behind Lenire.

Yes, again another glowing testimonial, often from professionals who seem more invested in “practice growth” than patient-centered care.

Let’s be clear:

There is no solid evidence that Lenire delivers long-term meaningful benefit beyond placebo. And yet, patients are spending thousands on a treatment based on hope, not science - with no guarantee, and often, no refund policy when it doesn’t work.

That’s not just disappointing. It’s ethically problematic.

What truly matters in tinnitus care is not another gadget.

It’s the person behind the symptom.

It’s helping them understand what’s happening in their brain.

It’s guiding them through fear, frustration and fatigue.

It’s working with real psychological tools, like ACT and CBT.

It’s showing them that change is possible - not because of a machine, but because of their own strength and capacity for adaptation.

If you’ve tried Lenire and it didn’t help, please know:

You didn’t fail. The device did.

And if you’re a professional promoting it - ask yourself who you’re really helping.

As a clinician, I see a serious risk here:

By focusing on devices like Lenire, we risk ignoring the deeper layers of the tinnitus experience - the emotional, cognitive and existential dimensions that actually determine suffering and recovery.

And one more thing:

If more and more independent professionals continue to raise serious doubts about Lenire’s efficacy, we should also start asking harder questions of the FDA. Approval without clear, reproducible benefit? That’s a system problem too.

The good news?

Plenty of colleagues in the scientific community would love to evaluate Lenire in an unbiased way - as long as proper controls are in place. So let’s invite that. Let’s be honest. Let’s do better.
