We live in a world filled with sound, yet true listening is becoming a lost art.
In healthcare, in politics, in everyday life - we speak, we react, we try to fix. But do we really hear each other? Do we take the time to understand what lies behind the words, behind the noise?
As an audiologist, ACT trainer, and artist, I see the consequences of this every day. People struggling with tinnitus or hyperacusis often tell me the same thing: “The sound is unbearable, but what hurts most is that no one truly understands.” They are looking for solutions, but above all, they are looking for recognition.
This realization has led me to a unique project that I am honored to share with you.
A visual and emotional journey through sound and silence
Over the coming months, six of my artworks will be featured on the cover of ENT & Audiology News, an international journal reaching professionals in 114 countries. But this is more than just an artistic contribution.
Each artwork represents an exploration of sound, silence, perception, and the human experience. Accompanying every cover, I will write a blog—diving deeper into what it means to listen, to struggle with sound, and to find new ways of hearing, both literally and metaphorically.
I want to challenge the way we think about hearing and communication, not just in audiology but in the broader context of healthcare, society, and our interactions with each other. Because this is bigger than hearing loss. This is about how we connect as human beings.
